The city of Canberra is located in the Australian Capital Territory, a state that is a part of the country. The area’s geological formations are fascinating. Some date back nearly 480 million years to the Ordovician when the land was still a part of the ocean floor. The oldest rock formations are the Pittman Formation, consisting of quartz-rich sandstone and siltstone. Other formations in the area include Black Mountain Sandstone and State Circle Shale. These formations were raised by major volcanic activity on the east coast of Australia during the Devonian Period.

Street trees in the neighbourhood provide a natural aesthetic experience. In the spring, Narrabundah is lined with daffodils and other colourful flowers. In Autumn, the foliage is beautiful. The streetscape is mostly composed of single-storey detached homes with colourful, established gardens.
