Cosmetic change

Dental Checklist: Tell Your Dentist If You Want To Make Major Changes

  • Sometimes people aren’t happy with the way their teeth look. Teeth may be dark or discoloured; chipped, have rough edges or be an unusual shape; missing; visible fillings; or crooked.
  • Cosmetic changes can be made to the teeth to change the way they look.
  • Each of these cosmetic dental procedures has a different timeframe, from being able to be done at a single appointment to requiring more than 12 months from start to finish
  • Some procedures can’t be done until the teeth and gums are disease-free, so this may increase the overall treatment time

HERE ARE SOME INDICATIVE TIMES FOR COSMETIC DENTAL PROCEDURES. PLEASE NOTE THAT TIMES MAY VARY FROM PRACTICE TO PRACTICE, ESPECIALLY IF DENTAL SPECIALISTS NEED TO BE INVOLVED IN TREATMENT.

*You should keep in mind that a particular procedure may not be appropriate for your situation and that additional time might be needed to achieve the outcome you are looking for. For example, you might want lighter teeth, assuming that this can be achieved using Teeth Whitening. If it turns out that your teeth can’t successfully be whitened in this way, you may choose instead to have dental veneers fitted, which would increase the overall time needed for treatment. To ensure that you achieve your treatment outcomes before your special day, we recommend that you make an appointment to see Dr Goyal as far ahead as possible. She will then be able to examine your teeth and provide recommendations for treatments that will work best for you.

If you need any assistance, reach out to our Garran Dental Centre for guidance or help.

**If you have active dental diseases, such as cavities or gum disease, this will need to be treated before most cosmetic dental treatments can be performed. This will increase the overall amount of time for treatment. Therefore we recommend that you visit us as early as possible so that we can check to see if the disease is present and put together a plan to ensure that you can get your needed dental treatment AND your cosmetic dentistry finished well before the big day.
